HSG Expands Service Offerings with New Chief of Data Analytics and Translation
Helgerson Solutions Group (HSG) announces the arrival of Dr. Ken Robin—an expert in using data to solve real world problems, with over 20 years of experience managing data sets, analysis, and advanced statistical methods.
As demand for impactful solutions from all sectors of the economy continues to rise, organizations of all sizes are facing the immense challenge of harnessing data to better serve populations and deliver results. Data-driven organizations and interventions are the only way forward in today’s complex ecosystem, yet most organizations are unable to take advantage of the data they have or extract the insight they need to be or remain competitive.
“Those who are using data to drive strategy are those who are winning in today’s markets. Unfortunately, access to the right kind of data and analytical technique remains hard to find and confusing for many, especially those who may need it the most. We look forward to providing our current and future clients with impactful, useful, and timely data services to take their work to the next level,” said Founder and Chief Solutions Officer Jason Helgerson.
“We’re living in an era where we’re drowning in data, but starving for insight, which generally gets in the way of developing great strategy. Building data infrastructure and understanding how to harness its power doesn’t have to be daunting. The real work is in translating the data into insight; making the data work for you, not the other way around,” said Dr. Robin.
Dr. Robin has 20 years of experience conducting research, having worked for 7 years at the National Institute for Early Education Research and 13 years at the Center for Human Services Research at the University at Albany. His publications include evaluations of state-funded preschool programs throughout the nation, randomized trials comparing the effects of full- and half-day school schedules, early education policy reports, and cost/benefit analyses. Dr. Robin co-authored and managed data for NIEER’s annual State of Preschool Yearbook.
At Center for Human Services Research at the University at Albany, Dr. Robin co-authored successful grant applications that have brought more than $20 million to various local and state agencies. He worked with the City School District of Albany as the lead evaluator for the district’s Magnet School Assistance Program and Safe Schools/Healthy Students initiatives. Dr. Robin also served as the lead data analyst for The Albany Promise, a cradle-to-career partnership designed to improve education outcomes and build civic infrastructure in Albany.
Dr. Ken Robin holds a B.A. degree in Human Development from Cornell University and Master’s and Doctoral Degrees in School Psychology from Rutgers University.
